About Iowa Dollars for Scholars

Dollars for Scholars is a nationwide network of more than 1,200 grassroots, community based scholarship foundations, 110 of which are in Iowa. It is a program of Scholarship America, the nation’s premier non-profit private-sector scholarship and educational assistance organization.

Dollars for Scholars chapters maximize their local scholarship dollars through initiatives such as formal partnerships with more than 500 post-secondary institutions nationwide—43 of which are in Iowa. Of these 43 Collegiate Partners in Iowa, 18 colleges go farther by providing matching funds.

In 2007, more than $3 million in scholarships were awarded to more than 5,000 Iowa students, with an average award of $600. 71 Iowa chapters reported endowments totaling $18 million.
