Iowa Dollars for Scholars Board Elects Three New Members; Recognizes Prairie Meadows and Principal Financial Group

Thousands of deserving students in Iowa are realizing their dreams of higher education as a result of the ongoing generous support of Principal Financial Group and Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino. Both organizations were honored at Iowa Dollars for Scholars' recent Board of Trustees' meeting.

A token of appreciation was presented to Andrew Allen of Principal Financial Group by Roger Mahnke, 2009 Board Chair.

Principal Financial Group has supported the good work of Iowa Dollars for Scholars and our chapter volunteers statewide since 2005. The company and foundation have donated more than $20,000 to support our efforts in expanding access to educational opportunities for thousands of deserving students in Iowa. Principal also provided more than $5,500 in printing as its sponsorship of our Governor’s Cup Race and Walk for Dollars for Scholars events in 2006 and 2007. In addition Iowa Dollars for Scholars has benefitted from the leadership of Terry Lillis, Chief Financial Officer of Principal Financial Group, who served as Secretary-Treasurer  of Iowa Dollars for Scholars for three years.

 

 

A token of appreciation was presented to Gina Rooney of Prairie Meadows by Roger Mahnke, 2009 Board Chair.

Prairie Meadows Racetrack and Casino has helped Iowa Dollars for Scholars develop many new chapters and strengthen existing chapters in Central Iowa since 1999. To date, Prairie Meadows has donated nearly $70,000 to Iowa Dollars for Scholars. Prairie Meadows was a sponsor of the Governor’s Cup Race and Walk for Dollars for Scholars also has provided financial support for scholarships to many chapters in Central Iowa. Prairie Meadows continuing support of the Dollars for Scholars program definitely is making a difference for Central Iowa college-bound students. 

 

 

In addition, outgoing board chair Roger Mahnke was presented with the 2009 Outgoing Board Member award by Chris Korte (above.) Finally, congratulations and welcome to our newest Trustees (from left, below) Machele Henderson of International Paper, Mark Turchan of John Deere Credit, and Mary Ann Neilsen of AIB College of Business.
